Dexter Collects IWLCA All-Region Honors

5/20/2022 – The Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) NCAA DIII All-Region teams have been released and Saint Joseph’s College grad student Lydia Dexter (Oakland, Maine) has earned Second Team All-Pilgrim Region accolades.

Dexter becomes the first player in SJC women’s lacrosse history to garner IWLCA All-Region honors after scoring 80 goals with 75 assists for 155 total points along with 78 ground balls, 46 draw controls, and 22 caused turnovers in 21 games this spring.

In her third season as a member of the lacrosse program, Dexter established new SJC records for goals, assists, points, points per game (7.38), and assists per game (3.57). She also shattered the GNAC single-season points record (previously 130 points) and now owns the Monks’ career record for assists (115).

As of May 20th, Dexter ranks third in NCAA DIII Women’s Lacrosse in points and is fifth in assists, ninth in assists per game (3.57), 10th in points per game (7.38), and 17th in goals. In just 45 career games, she has tallied 129 goals and 115 assists totaling 244 points with 126 ground balls, 90 draw controls and 46 caused turnovers. Dexter broke the program’s career assists record this season and currently ranks second all-time in points and sixth in goals scored.

Dexter is one of just two GNAC players to earn IWLCA All-Region honors – Simmons University junior defender Riley Wasiuk was also listed on the Second Team.

The IWLCA has honored 272 student-athletes in Division III with a selection to one of the All-Region teams for 2022. These student-athletes are now eligible to be named to a national IWLCA All-American team. The IWLCA will announce the 2022 All-American teams on May 26.

Currently there are over 500 institutional members and over 1,200 coaches and staff at NCAA Division I, Division II, Division III, and NAIA collegiate programs.
