Women’s Basketball Cruise Past Blazers

1/20/24 – Senior guard Angelica Hurley (Groveland, Mass.) notched a double-double with 22 points and 12 rebounds to help Saint Joseph’s College (10-7, 6-0 GNAC) defeat Elms College (9-8, 3-3 GNAC), 80-57, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women’s basketball action on Saturday afternoon.
The conference rivals swapped the lead several times in the early going before the Monks secured the advantage for good with a dominant 21-4 run spanning nearly seven minutes during the first and second quarters. Trailing 8-7 with 3:09 left in the first frame, sophomore Logan Brown (Brunswick, Maine) drilled a three-pointer to ignite the outburst and freshman Maddie Russell capped the surge with a layup to make it a 28-12 game with 6:51 before the break.
