Allison M. Murphy ’21 has joined Southwestern Vermont Medical Center Orthopedics and Dartmouth-Hitchcock Putnam Physicians. Murphy holds a Master’s of Science degree in nursing from St. Joseph’s College in Maine, a first-degree certification from the University of Rochester in New York and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the former Southern Vermont College.

Carrell Jamilano ’16 published her first book entitled, “The Alluring Voice of God: Forming Daily Encounters.” Written for young adults and Catholic teens who may be questioning their faith, The Alluring Voice of God invites them to experience God’s voice in direct communication. By developing and living in a personal connection with God, readers of all ages longing for a closer relationship will discover our beloved Christ dwells in a prominent place in our hearts.

Cortney Muldoon ’10, ’16 graduated from Saint Joseph’s College with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in 2010 and her Family Nurse Practitioner degree in the Spring of 2016. In the Spring 2021, Cortney purchased a small building in rural South Paris, ME, to establish a healthcare facility where her patients could come first. This was the beginning of Live Life Family Practice. Opening her doors established a facility where patients are the center of their healthcare, not the insurance companies. Patient centered, direct care from a primary care provider, a.k.a. “old school medicine.” Cortney now lives in Poland with her husband, children, and golden retrievers. She loves the outdoors, running, spending time with family and friends. She is passionate about what she does and would love the opportunity to take care of you and your family.

Lily Lamkin ’20 has continued to be a Registered Nurse at Southern Maine Healthcare throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and has guided, educated and supported many new grad nurses through orientation. Her favorite part of her job is being the emotional support that her patients need.

Beth (Egan) Mallett, Jen (White) Lyford, Maureen (MacEachern) Farrow, Michelle (Traynham) Vessels, Noah Wiehe, Julie (DeTemple) McLean, Allison (Wing) Lambert, Gwen (Rush) Genest, Alex (Baum) Frazier, Julie (Sweeney) Fabry, Shelley (Zanfagna) Cavanaugh, Christine (Anctil) Garner, and Debbie (Penta) Lindholm], all members of the class of 1994, celebrated turning 50 in Seaside Beach, Florida, this past November.

Obituaries
Dorothy “Dot” Kilmartin ’58, 90, passed away peacefully at the Maine Veterans Home after a long illness. After graduating from Portland High School, Dot enlisted in the Marines at the age of 17. After her term in the military, Dot attended Saint Joseph’s College where she earned a BA in Social Work. Her career path included years spent teaching, her own job placement company and restaurant equipment sales. She was active in the Catholic Church throughout her life. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family at this time.

Barbara Pindar Smith ’53 passed away on December 10, 2021. After earning her Bachelor of Science degree from St. Joseph’s College of Maine, Barbara began her career as a secretary with the Central Intelligence Agency, working her way up to the Director’s Office where she was secretary to William E. Colby. At the time of her retirement from the CIA in 1987, Mrs. Smith was Chief of Protocol. Mrs. Smith was the first woman to be awarded the Distinguished Intelligence Medal, which she received upon her retirement. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Our thoughts and prayers are with her beloved family at this time.

Elizabeth M. Shea Miller ’85 passed away on November 21, 2021 at the age of 82. Betty graduated from the RN program at Mount Auburn Hospital and went on to earn her BS in Nursing from Saint Joseph’s. She spent the early part of her career assisting in the very first heart transplants, and later worked for many years as a school nurse in the Norwalk Public School System. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family at this time.

Rev. Barbara Ann May Frohock ’09 passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 12, 2021 in Marmora, NJ. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Services from Saint Joseph’s College and a Master of Divinity degree from Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Barbara was an ordained Elder in the United Methodist Church, serving as pastor of the Sea Isle City church. She ministered to people of all faiths in her community and helped build ecumenical ministries among local churches. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends at this time.

Nan Lou Schuth Hoffman ’86 passed away December 3, 2021 surrounded by her family, including three RN’s that she helped to inspire into the profession of nursing. She graduated from Abbott Hospital School of Nursing in 1951 and went on to earn her BS in Health Care Administration from Saint Joseph’s College. She worked at St. John’s McNamara Hospital and Rapid City Regional Hospital during her 40-year nursing career. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family at this time.

Dorothy Ann Kalaus ’90 passed away on December 10, 2021 after a life dedicated to the service of others. She graduated from the Wilkes-Barre Hospital of Nursing and then earned her Bachelors of Science in Health Care Administration from Saint Joseph’s College. She worked as a registered nurse for 46 years and was a member of St. Paul of the Cross Parish. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends at this time.

Lois S. King ’88 passed away peacefully on December 22, 2021 surrounded by her large and loving family. Lois graduated from Lancaster School of Nursing and went on to receive her Bachelor’s of Nursing from Saint Joseph’s College. She worked at various hospitals and for many years as a school nurse. During retirement Lois taught CPR and shared her deep faith with others. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family at this time.

James A. Brasiel ’07 passed away January 12, in San Ramon, California. He earned a BA in Communications from Saint Mary’s College of California and a Masters in Health Administration from Saint Joseph’s and an MD from St. Matthew’s University. During his career he concentrated on teaching students of all levels and disciplines in the medical field. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this time.

Mary Key Dollard Button ’84 passed away peacefully on January 8, at her home in Cheshire, CT. After receiving her RN from the Norwalk Hospital School of Nursing, she received her Bachelor of Science from Saint Joseph’s. A gentle and compassionate person, Mary was a life-long learner and enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with loved ones. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends at this time.

Sharon Eileen Coburn ’85 passed away on January 20, at the age of 81 in Columbia, MD. After earning her RN in Ohio, and receiving her Bachelors in Health Care Administration from Saint Joseph’s College, she went on to a Masters from John Hopkins University. Her long career included positions in nursing administration at Howard County General Hospital and a passionate concern for women’s health and safety through community programs. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends at this time.

Brenda ‘BJ’ Smith [Provencher] Dunn ’79 passed away at the age of 76 on February 8, surrounded by her loving family. Brenda received her BSN from Saint Joseph’s and went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Nursing from Boston University and a Nurse Practitioner degree from the University of Maine. She also served in the US Army reserves, retiring as a decorated Lieutenant Colonel after 23 years, and a lifelong community volunteer. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends at this time.

Sister Mary Bernadette Hayden, RSM ’72 passed away on January 27, at the age of 93 at St. Joseph’s Convent, after 73 years as a Sister of Mercy. Sister Bernadette earned a BA in Business Education from Saint Joseph’s College and taught in parochial schools in the Diocese of Portland. From 1974 until 1997, she held the position of Executive Secretary to the President of Saint Joseph’s College. In retirement, Sister Bernadette continued to volunteer as a tutor and through visitation of the elderly and ill. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and members of her religious community at this time.

Sister Mary Kelley, RSM ’70 (Sr. Mary Columbanus), 78, died peacefully at Mercy Hospital on January 14, after a brief illness. She entered the Sisters of Mercy in 1962 and went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree from Saint Joseph’s College in 1970. She found her true calling to social action in providing food, shelter, clothing and heat to those in need, which she did in many capacities throughout her life, including through the St. Mary’s Food Pantry and the Sister Mary O’Donnell Shelter. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends, and fellow Sisters of Mercy.

Stephen H. McGinn ’78 of Cranston, RI, passed away peacefully at the age of 68 on January 24. Stephen received his Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Technology from Saint Joseph’s and went on to be the Chief X-Ray Technician at Roger Williams Medical Center. He was a member of the Men of St. Joseph at Holy Apostles Church. Our thoughts and prayers are with his loving family at this time.

K. Jean Young Williams ’61 passed away peacefully in her home at the age of 82 surrounded by family on January 29. Jean was a graduate of Saint Joseph’s Academy in Portland and earned her BA in Natural Science from Saint Joseph’s College. She began her career as a Registered Medical Technologist at New England Deaconess Hospital in Boston and later moved to Denver, Colorado. She and her family later moved to Illinois, where she happily put down roots. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family at this time.
