Mike McDevitt Court Presentation & Women’s Alumni Basketball Game

Share

On December 5, the court in the Harold Alfond Center will be officially named as “Mike McDevitt Court” in honor of the Monks’ longtime women’s basketball coach and men’s basketball alum.

The winningest and most successful basketball coach (men’s or women’s) in SJC athletics history, McDevitt has recorded 580 victories and a .738 winning percentage across 28 years at Saint Joseph’s and one year as the interim head coach at Southern Maine.

One of the most decorated head coaches in the 51-year history of Monks Athletics, McDevitt has guided his teams to 18 championships and 13 national tournament appearances while collecting 14 Coach of the Year accolades across his 29 seasons on the basketball bench. McDevitt also coached the SJC women’s volleyball team for five seasons (1987-91) and led the Royal Blue to a 97-61 (.614) record.

Our original celebration was delayed due to COVID so we are excited to announce that the official unveiling ceremony will be held on Sunday, December 5 at Noon, with a reception following immediately after in the Hall of Fame Room. We hope you will join us in celebrating Coach Mike McDevitt and his tremendous accomplishments.

Prior to the ceremony, a Women’s Basketball Alumni Game will be held starting at 11:00 a.m.
