Spreading Community Kindness: Santa Style.

HO HO HO! Dr. Doug Letsch, aka, Santa Claus, and his wife, are very active in their local community, especially during this time of the year. Santa and Mrs. Claus have visited more than 3,000 children in their work with The Mobile Santa organization for twelve years.

The Mobile Santa is a volunteer program presented by their church in Lindale, Texas, to reach out to the community by offering free pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus, hot cocoa, and candy canes for all. And, one can be sure, they’ve listened intently to many wishes from children of all ages.

Dr. Letsch says the program is designed to share the love of Christ through the holiday season and give hope to the community. The Mobile Santa trailer goes from one neighborhood to the next, stopping several times to allow families and neighbors to not only visit Santa but also get to know each other. Over the last 12 years, thousands of individuals have been touched by this magical outreach and it continues to be an effective means of sharing joy, peace, and love during the holiday season.

When he’s not planning for the big day in his red suit and donning a full beard, Dr. Letsch teaches accounting and finance to SJC’s online students.
