We are heartbroken to announce the unexpected passing of Gale Hull, Hon. ’08

Share

We are heartbroken to announce the unexpected passing of Gale Hull, Founder and President of Partners in Development (PID). The College has enjoyed a longstanding partnership with Gale and her organization, which has hosted over 600 SJC International Service Trip participants in Haiti and Guatemala over the past 17 years. In gratitude for her inspiring example and tireless advocacy for the marginalized, the College bestowed upon Gale an Honorary Degree in 2008.

Dr. Steve Bridge, Chair of SJC’s Theology Department, remembers Gale as a servant leader and treasured friend: “Gale made it her life’s work to put faith, hope, and love into meaningful action by championing the inherent dignity of the marginalized and those living in extreme poverty. With her unflappable spirit, humble heart, and tireless advocacy, Gale became a hero not only to those whom she served, but to those of us who were privileged enough to work alongside her–including more than 600 Saint Joseph’s College International Service Trip participants. Her unexpected passing is a tremendous loss to our community; nevertheless, she leaves behind a lasting legacy of good works inspired by the Gospels and closely aligned with the Mission and values of our institution.”

A wake in remembrance of Gale will take place this evening from 5-8pm at Whittier Porter Funeral Home in Ipswich, MA. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, October 26th at 11am at Our Lady of Hope in Ipswich, MA. All are welcome to attend.
