How Will You “Summer” This Year?

Share

Early on the morning of June 21st, we’ll experience the summer Solstice. Here in New England, it marks the day of the year when sun will be at its highest point in the sky. Mid-day shadows will be at their shortest, and we will have the maximum hours of sunlight in a single day. In other words, it’s the longest day of the year.

It’s also the first official day of summer – a time for slowing down, relaxing & recharging, and taking vacations. But even if a vacation isn’t in your immediate future, there are still many ways to bring that summertime feeling into everyday life. Some of our favorite ways include:

  • Stargazing and watching fireflies
  • Cooking out
  • Hanging out around a fire pit
  • Eating classic summer foods: Watermelon, corn on the cob, fresh gazpacho, minted iced tea
  • Reading (or maybe napping?) outside
  • Skipping stones
  • Strolling on a beach or shoreline
  • Snagging a fly ball
  • …and more

What makes summer feel like summer to you? Make sure you take time to do those things, and savor every experience.
