Living Well: Gratitude

Share

With the upcoming holidays in mind, this month our activities are focused on gratitude. That includes showing gratitude for our own bodies and health by taking care of ourselves, leading into this busy and sometimes stressful time of year.

The activities in our Living Well program this month will encourage you to:

  • Use our tips to practice smarter holiday eating. Your body will thank you!
  • Fortify a habit of moving consistently, by tracking 7,500 daily steps!
  • Boost someone’s spirit (and your own) by extending thanks to someone who needs it.
  • Prioritize your sleep routine this month to support your health. It’s hard to focus on gratitude – or anything else – when you’re exhausted.
  • Try one minute of gratitude for a quick, easy and enjoyable mood booster.
  • Re-think wellness for fall with some energy-boosting, fun, and fall-themed activities.

Instant Mood Booster: One Minute of Gratitude

Gratitude offers so many well-being benefits! Simply taking a moment or two to recognize and express gratitude (even if it’s not out loud) can…

  • Open the door to more relationships
  • Improve physical and mental health
  • Help you sleep better
  • Improve self-esteem
  • Increase mental strength
  • Boost well-being
  • Benefit the heart and immune system

Here’s an easy way to get more focused on gratitude, and it only takes one minute.

Who are you grateful for? Close your eyes and think about someone in your life who has helped you. A nurse, a teacher, a parent, a friend, a stranger…think about the moments you’ve been looked after or cared for. Try doing this for a minute at least once a week.
