“I was at a community college, and I knew I wanted a four-year degree. Now I get to study what I want to be studying, and I get to be a member of the Monks swim team. All in all, it's just a much more fulfilling experience than what I had before.”

Camden Thaxter, International Business ’22 (on the left) and Michael Hagerty, Exercise Science ‘22 (on the right) are transfer students on the swim team. Michael says he began the transfer process to #SaintJoesMaine before the pandemic started. “I was at a community college, and I knew I wanted a four-year degree. Now I get to study what I want to be studying, and I get to be a member of the Monks swim team. All in all, it’s just a much more fulfilling experience than what I had before.”
In a similar position, Camden joined our community last spring—”I was at another college, on their study abroad program in Copenhagen, Denmark. Unfortunately, due to the COVID outbreak, I was sent home in March. Finishing out my semester at home gave me a lot of time to think about what is important to me: strong academics and competitive swimming. I found both at #SaintJoesMaine, plus a much more vibrant atmosphere around campus than my previous school.”
