Farr, Goff, & Abukar Claim GNAC Weekly Honors

2/6/23 — The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly awards have been released and three Saint Joseph’s College indoor track & field athletes have earned accolades after posting impressive performances in the Maine State Championships at Bates College on Saturday.

Junior Ryan Farr (Gorham, Maine) is the GNAC Men’s Track Athlete of the Week, junior Brooklyn Goff (Biddeford, Maine) has claimed GNAC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week honors, and freshman Abdirizak Abukar (Lewiston, Maine) has been named as the GNAC Men’s Track & Field Rookie of the Week.

2/5/23 — Congratulations to Tiffany Twombly, swimming, for coming in first place in the 50 Breaststroke at the GNAC Championship!

Saint Joseph’s College completed the 2023 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships at the Boston Sports Institute – home of the 2012 Olympic Trials – on the campus of Wellesley College on Sunday evening. Both teams capped the three-day event in fifth place.

Ashtyn Abbott, men's basketballAbbott Picked as GNAC Player of the Week

2/6/23 — The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly awards have been announced and Saint Joseph’s College senior forward Ashtyn Abbott (Farmingdale, Maine) has been tabbed as the GNAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.

Abbott collects the first GNAC weekly honor of his basketball career after averaging 16.7 points, 10.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.7 blocks while shooting 66.7% (20-30) from the floor, 50% (5-10) from beyond the arc, and 83.3% (5-6) from the charity stripe in a huge 3-0 conference week for the Monks.

Nicholas Curtis, men's basketballCurtis Breaks SJC Career Three-Pointer Record in GNAC Victory

2/14/23 — Saint Joseph’s College (13-11, 9-7 GNAC) defeated Regis College (13-11, 9-8 GNAC), 68-58, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) men’s basketball game at the Harold Alfond Center on Tuesday night.

With a three-pointer at the 18:38 mark of the second half, graduate student guard Nicholas Curtis (Windham, Maine) broke the Monks’ career three-pointers made record, which was previously held by Stephen Chase ’93, who connected for 311 trifectas in 119 games.

Curtis entered tonight’s contest with 309 treys to his credit and has now converted 312 shots from downtown in 110 career games. Chase, a 2015 SJC Athletics Hall of Fame inductee, shot 37.2% (311-835) from deep during his career while Curtis sports a 40.9% (312-763) career three-point shooting percentage.

Elisabeth Stapelfeld, women's basketballStapelfeld Earns Fourth MWBCA Rookie of the Week Honor

2/14/23 — The Maine Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (MWBCA) weekly awards have been released and Saint Joseph’s College freshman guard Elisabeth Stapelfeld (Brookline, N.H.) has been tabbed as the MWBCA Rookie of the Week for the fourth time this winter.

Stapelfeld averaged 15.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.7 steals while shooting 17-35 (48.6) from the field, 38.5% (5-13) from downtown, and 87.5% (7-8) from the FT line in a 2-1 week for Saint Joseph’s. The freshman guard netted a career-high 20 points and was 4-for-6 from three-point land in a win at Colby-Sawyer College on Monday.

Five Ski team members Claim All-Division Honors

Monks Capture Reynolds Crown, Five Claim All-Division Honors

2/14/23 — The 2023 United States Collegiate Ski & Snowboard Association (USCSA) Reynolds Division regular season is in the books and the Saint Joseph’s College men’s alpine ski team has claimed the USCSA Reynolds Division Championship for the first time in program history.

The Monks won six of the nine Division races held this winter and tallied 12 points, three points ahead of runner-up UMaine-Farmington, which won the other three events.

The USCSA Reynolds Division postseason accolades have also been released and five Saint Joseph’s alpine skiers have captured honors.

Junior Liam Strobeck (Charlotte, Vt.), freshman Jack Price (Franconia, N.H.), and first-year Logan Davis (Naples, Maine) have earned First Team All-Division accolades while freshman Colin Rathbone (Groton, Mass.) and sophomore Jacob Morris (Woodstock, N.H.) are listed on the Second Team.

Four SJC Women’s Skiers Earn All-Reynolds Division Accolades

2/14/23 — The 2023 United States Collegiate Ski & Snowboard Association (USCSA) Reynolds Division regular season is in the books and four Saint Joseph’s College women’s alpine skiers have earned All-Reynolds Division accolades.

Sophomore Maddie Zordan (New Hartford, Conn.) and junior Courtney Pingree (Marblehead, Mass.) have claimed First Team All-Reynolds Division honors while juniors Maeghan Perkins (Turner, Maine) and Erica Irvin (Windham, N.H.) have been listed on the Second Team.

2/25/23 — The 2023 Maine Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) postseason accolades have been announced and a pair of Saint Joseph’s College players have earned honors.

Freshman guard Elisabeth Stapelfeld (Brookline, N.H.) has been selected as the MWBCA Rookie of the Year and garnered MWBCA All-Rookie Team honors and junior guard Hannah Talon (Windham, Maine) has earned First Team All-State accolades.

2/26/23 — The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) men’s basketball All-Conference awards have been released and a pair of Saint Joseph’s College players have earned accolades.

Freshman guard John Paul Frazier (York, Maine) has been selected as the 2023 GNAC Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Year and is also listed on the GNAC All-Rookie Team and graduate student guard Griffin Foley (Portland, Maine) has collected Third Team All-Conference honors.

Four Monks Garner GNAC Postseason Honors

2/27/23 — The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women’s Basketball postseason honors have been announced and three Saint Joseph’s College players have garnered accolades.

Head Coach Mike McDevitt ’83 and junior guard Angelica Hurley (Groveland, Mass.) headline the Monks’ selections, as McDevitt has been selected as the GNAC Coach of the Year and Hurley is the 2023 GNAC Women’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Year.

Hurley has also claimed Second Team All-Conference honors while junior guard Hannah Talon (Windham, Maine) is listed on the Second Team and freshman guard Elisabeth Stapelfeld (Brookline, N.H.) has earned All-Rookie Team honors.
