First Annual Retention Summit
Share
On behalf of the recently created Retention and Persistence Task Force, please join us by participating in an All College Retention Summit. We look forward to your attendance and participation in the discussions on student retention, persistence, and attrition. The Summit will take place from 9:00 am to Noon, Thursday, January 13, 2022, virtually via Google Meet.
The purpose of the Summit is to review best practices and seek additional ways in which we can all support our students’ ability to succeed at Saint Joe’s. Our goal for the day is to develop and plan for the implementation of three to five high-impact strategies that align with the college’s initiatives related to student retention. By working together, the identified strategies will provide an engaging and supportive environment where all students have what they need to persist, succeed, and graduate.
Focused themes we will cover include:
- Enhancing financial literacy
- Community and commitment in a digitally mediated environment
- Mechanisms for developing student support networks
- Extended/Intrusive advising approach
- Building academic grit
- Develop a structured support system for students from traditionally underrepresented communities
Because it is important that all voices are heard and that the energy, ideas, and talents of the SJC community are leveraged to address this important issue, the expectation is that all faculty and staff participate in the Summit.
Retention and persistence are a goal at the forefront of all of our work, and we look forward to your participation in this important initiative.
