Meet Sophia Viger ’24

Share

“My name is Sophia Viger, and I am from Chester, NH. I am a biology and secondary education major. When I was a first year student the best piece of advice someone could have given me would have been “do not be afraid to reinvent yourself”. College is a new place filled with people who know nothing about you so it is a great opportunity to try something new that you never thought you would be able to do.”

When I came to St. Joe’s I definitely did reinvent myself. All the way up though high school I was a competitive gymnast and the time commitment that it required did not leave much time for extracurricular activities. Once at St. Joe’s I decided to step out of my comfort zone and join the dance team, even after having very little dance experience. I am happy to say that I am now one of the captains of the dance team and that would not have been possible if I didn’t try something new. I also took a leap when I applied to be a peer mentor at the end of my first year. Now I am a student leader for other first year students at St. Joe’s. With that being said there is still so much I look to accomplish at St. Joe’s. I will continue to make the most of as many opportunities as I can because I want to make the most out of my college career. So far the person who has inspired me the most is Kathryn Huntress. She has recently graduated, but with the time we had together she showed me that with good time management it really is possible to do so much more than you think you can! Without Kathryn I probably never would have applied to be a peer mentor or a resident advisor and would not be as proud of where I am today.
