9/5/23 – Freshman Diego Robinson (Hinesburg, Vt.) scored off a Rion Dos Santos (São Paulo, Brazil) pass on a corner kick attempt in the 78th minute to lift Saint Joseph’s College (1-1-1, 1-0-0 GNAC) past Dean College (1-1-0, 0-1-0 GNAC), 1-0, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) men’s soccer contest on a muggy Tuesday night at the SJC Athletics Complex.
Saint Joseph’s held a sizeable possession advantage – nearly 70-30 – in what was the GNAC opener for both sides but had trouble cracking the Bulldogs’ back line. The defensive battle saw few true scoring chances, as SJC junior keeper Liam Foley (Middleton, Mass.) made his best save of the night in the 43rd minute with a sprawling stop on a Melvin Alves (Brockton, Mass.) bid. Freshman Cole Bishop (Gorham, Maine) had several close calls on fast breaks, but could not convert.
