Grace Ramsdell, women's basketballRamsdell Earns Second Consecutive GNAC Weekly Honor

12/5/23 – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly honors have been announced as Saint Joseph’s College sophomore forward Grace Ramsdell (Wells, Maine) has earned GNAC Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Week accolades for the second-consecutive reporting period.

Ramsdell claims the top rookie honor after averaging 12.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game in a 1-1 week for the Monks. She recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds – along with two assists, two steals, and a pair of blocks – in a 64-53 GNAC victory over University of Saint Joseph on Saturday.

Through eight games this winter Ramsdell is averaging 11.9 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 1.5 assists while shooting 41.6% (37-89) from the field, 30.4% (7-23) from three-point range, and 77.8% (14-18) from the free-throw line. She currently ranks second on the team in scoring and rebounding averages and is fourth in the conference in blocked shots (10).

Ramsdell Secures NEWBA, GNAC & MWBCA Weekly Awards

12/12/23 – Weekly honors have been released and Saint Joseph’s College sophomore forward Grace Ramsdell (Wells, Maine) has earned New England Women’s Basketball Association (NEWBA), Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC), and Maine Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (MWBCA) Rookie of the Week accolades.

Ramsdell shot 63.6% (7-11) from the floor, including a 2-for-3 effort from three-point distance, and notched a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds while logging just 26 minutes in an 89-41 victory over Regis College Saturday.

Through nine games Ramsdell is averaging 12.8 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game while shooting 44.0% (44-100) from the floor, 34.6% (9-26) from three-point distance, and 75.0% (18-24) from the free throw line. She leads the team in rebounding and ranks second on the squad in scoring average and field goal percentage.

Ramsdell shares the MWBCA Rookie of the Week honor with UMaine-Farmington freshman Jessica Dow (Saco, Maine), who scored 15 points with 13 rebounds and nine assists in the Beavers’ 90-59 victory over Lesley University.

Whitman, Schmader & Monday Garner GNAC Weekly Honors

12/11/23 -The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly honors have been announced and three Saint Joseph’s College indoor track & field athletes have earned accolades.

After posting fine outings in the Monks’ season-opener at Southern Maine on Saturday, first-year Breya Whitman (Auburn, Maine) has earned GNAC Women’s Indoor Track & Field Rookie of the Week honors while freshmen Jacob Schmader (Limington, Maine) and Tudum Monday (Lewiston, Maine) have collected GNAC Men’s Indoor Track & Field Athlete and Rookie of the Week accolades, respectively.

Whitman had three top-five finishes for Saint Joseph’s (Maine) at the USM Alumni Open this week. Her top performance came in the triple jump as she registered a 9.38m (30’9.25″) mark to finish second. She placed fourth in the high jump, clearing 1.47m (4’9.75″), and fifth in the 55m hurdles with a time of 11.23.

Schmader had three top-three finishes at the USM Alumni Open. Individually, he finished second in the 500m run and third in the 200m dash with respective times of 1:08.17 and 24.20. He was also part of the Monks’ 4x400m relay team that took first place with a time of 3:31.87.

Monday opened his intercollegiate indoor career with an impressive showing at the USM Alumni Open. He won the 55m hurdles with a time of 8.19 and was actually a fraction of second faster in the preliminaries with a time of 8.17 seconds. He was also part of Saint Joseph’s 4x400m relay ran a 3:31.87 for first place.

Will Wood, men's soccerWood Claims 2023 Academic All-America® Honors

12/20/23 – Saint Joseph’s College men’s soccer senior back Will Wood (Franklin, N.H.) has earned 2023 Second Team Academic All-America® honors, as selected by the College Sports Communicators organization.

The award recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the pitch and in the classroom. The Academic All-America® program separately recognizes men’s and women’s soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA – on an annual basis.

A Pre-Med and Biology major, Wood claimed Academic All-District® accolades this fall and is line to claim Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) All-Academic accolades for the second-consecutive year.

In two seasons at Saint Joseph’s, Wood has played in 37 games with two goals and seven assists. The University of Albany transfer also garnered United Soccer Coaches Second Team All-Region and First Team All-Conference honors this fall.

Wani Takes Home Second GNAC Weekly Honor

Remijo Wani, men's basketball1/2/24 – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly honors have been released and Saint Joseph’s College freshman guard Remijo Wani (Portland, Maine) has been selected as the GNAC Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week for the second time this this season.

Wani earned ECSU Invitational All-Tournament honors after averaging 16.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 2.0 steals in a pair of games in Willimantic on Friday and Saturday. His most impressive output took place against SUNY Poly on Saturday, when he neared triple-double status with 25 points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists in a convincing 89-74 victory over the Wildcats.

Through 12 games this winter, Wani is averaging 12.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.0 steals while shooting 46.1% (53-115) from the floor, 35.4% (17-48) from three-point distance, and 80.8% (21-26) from the charity stripe. He is currently second on the team in scoring, rebounding, and three-point percentage.
