Victoria Briones, volleyballBriones Named GNAC Player of the Week

11/6/23 – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly honors have been released and Saint Joseph’s College junior outside hitter Victoria Briones (El Paso, Texas) has been named as the GNAC Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week.

Briones led the Monks to a 2-1 week by averaging 3.11 kills and 3.56 digs with a .254 hitting percentage in nine sets last week. The sophomore outside hitter was pivotal in a GNAC tri-match sweep at Emmanuel on Saturday, when she netted 13 kills and 17 digs with a career-best .600 hitting percentage against Mitchell and posted nine kills and seven digs in a win over the Saints.

Briones is just the fourth player in SJC volleyball history – and first since 2015 – to earn GNAC Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week honors.

8 men's soccer players earn post season awards

Eight SJC Men’s Soccer Players Earn All-Conference Honors

11/7/23 – The 2023 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) men’s soccer postseason accolades have been announced and eight Saint Joseph’s College players have earned accolades.

Junior goalkeeper Liam Foley (Middleton, Mass.) headlines the Monks’ list of honorees as the 2023 GNAC Goalkeeper of the Year and First Team All-Conference selection. He is joined on the First Team by senior defender Will Wood (Franklin, N.H.) and junior midfielder Rion Dos Santos (São Paulo, Brazil).

Junior forward Gus Ford (Falmouth, Maine) and freshman defender Diego Robinson (Hinesburg, Vt.) have claimed Second Team All-Conference honors and senior Alec Kosinski (East Lyme, Conn.) is a Third Team All-GNAC selection. Robinson and fellow freshmen Cole Bishop (Gorham, Maine) and Divin Mpinga (Kinshasa, DRC) have collected All-Rookie Team acclaim and complete the list of Saint Joseph’s honorees.

11/7/23 – The 2023 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women’s soccer postseason honors have been released and Saint Joseph’s College senior forward Aaliyah WilsonFalcone (Winthrop, Maine) has earned Third Team All-GNAC accolades.

WilsonFalcone claims the first All-Conference honor of her career after scoring a team-high 10 goals for 20 total points with three game-winning tallies during her final collegiate campaign. In 58 games across three seasons, WilsonFalcone netted 25 goals – including seven game-clinchers – with seven assists for 57 total points. She capped her career ranked sixth in program history in game-winning markers and 12th in total goals.

Maya Waryas, field hockeyWaryas Named Third Team All-Conference

11/8/23 – The 2023 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) field hockey postseason awards have been announced and Saint Joseph’s College sophomore forward Maya Waryas (Bellows Falls, Vt.) has collected Third Team All-GNAC honors.

The 2022 GNAC Rookie of the Year and First Team All-Conference claims Third Team acclaim after leading the Monks in goals (9) and points (21) this fall. In two seasons and 38 career games, Waryas has netted 32 goals – including seven game-winners – with six assists for 70 total points. She already ranks sixth in program history in goals and is tied for seventh in points.

Cross Country awards Nov 23

Dann & Pelletier Headline Monks’ All-Conference Selections

11/9/23  – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Cross Country postseason awards have been announced and the GNAC Champion Saint Joseph’s College men’s squad is well represented.

Head Coach Tom Dann has been chosen, by vote of his fellow skippers, as the GNAC Men’s Cross Country Coach of the Year, the fifth such honor of his collegiate career, after leading the Monks to their first championship since 1987 at the SJC course last Saturday.

Dann, along with coaches Mike Burleson and Troy Hendricks ’22 (as well as track & field assistants Michael Roscoe and Kris Mason ’21), have accomplished the top coaching staff sweep of the 2023 calendar year after claiming men’s indoor and outdoor track & field Staff of the Year honors last spring.

Sophomore Jacob Pelletier (Augusta, Maine) claims GNAC Runner and Rookie of the Year accolades after winning the 8K race with a 27:54.7 performance. He’s just the third SJC runner to win the men’s race, as Ryan Prescott ’09, who won the GNAC’s twice (2007, 2008), and current assistant coach Troy Hendricks ’22, who claimed the title last fall, are the two other Monks to top the conference field.

Three other Saint Joseph’s runners claimed All-Conference honors after posting top-14 times in the 2023 event. Junior Ryan Graham (Hopkinton, N.H.) placed sixth (28:57.8) to join Pelletier on the First Team while sophomore Alexey Seredin (Peaks Island, Maine) was eighth (30:04.9) and senior Nick Carmosino (Acton, Mass.) placed 13th (30:50.9) to secure Second Team All-Conference honors.

Angelica Hurley, women's basketballHurley Named as NEWBA & GNAC Player of the Week

11/14/23  – The first women’s basketball weekly accolades of the 2023-24 season have been announced and Saint Joseph’s College senior guard Angelica Hurley (Groveland, Mass.) has earned New England Women’s Basketball Association (NEWBA) and Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week honors.

Hurley earns the accolades after leading the Monks to a Castleton Classic Championship and claiming tournament MVP honors after averaging 27.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.5 steals, and 0.5 blocks while shooting 52.6% (20-38) from the floor in a pair of victories last weekend. In a 73-48 win over New England College on Friday, the senior guard netted 25 points – a career-high at the time – with seven boards, two assists, and four steals. In the tourney championship on Saturday, Hurley set a new career-high with 30 points and was 10-for-13 from the FT line with eight rebounds and four dimes in a 69-62 win over Vermont State Castleton.

11/14/23 – The 2023 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women’s volleyball postseason accolades have been announced and three Saint Joseph’s College players have been honored.

Sophomore outside hitter Victoria Briones (El Paso, Texas) has earned Second Team All-GNAC honors, senior defensive specialist Abby Jerome (Barrington, N.H.) has collected Third Team accolades, and freshman middle blocker Larisa Comolli (Nashua, N.H.) is listed on the GNAC All-Rookie Team.

Briones, a 2022 GNAC All-Rookie Team selection, collects All-Conference honors for the first time after leading the team in kills (257), kills per set (2.50), attacks (768), service aces (56), and digs (392). She capped the 2023 campaign ranked fifth in the conference in aces, ninth in digs, 10th in attacks, and 11th in aces per set (0.36) and digs per set (3.81).

Jerome also takes home All-Conference accolades for the first time after notching 49 service aces and 375 digs in 79 sets during her senior season. She led the team in aces per set (0.62) and digs per set (4.75) and ranked third in the conference in both statistical categories.

Comolli earns GNAC All-Rookie Team honors after dishing out 162 kills with team-highs in attack percentage (.249), block assists (56), and total blocks (69) as one of only three players to appear in all 31 of the Monks’ matches this fall. She completed her freshman campaign ranked sixth in the GNAC in block assists and seventh in attack percentage and total blocks.

Fall Athletes Garner All-Sportsmanship Honors

11/17/23 – Seven Saint Joseph’s College fall sports athletes have earned Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) All-Sportsmanship Team honors.

Sophomore Haley Brooks (Ossipee, N.H.), senior Nick Carmosino (Acton, Mass.), grad student Henry Cummings (Grafton, Mass.), sophomore Nick DeLeo (Saco, Maine), senior Carly Downey (Yarmouth, Maine), senior Sam Holland (Gilmanton, N.H.), Alexia Young (Rochester, N.H.) have been selected, by a vote of their teammates and/or coaches, to represent Saint Joseph’s on their respective sportsmanship squads.

Each season the GNAC honors athletes for displaying the tenets of sportsmanship along with the release of the respective season’s all-conference teams.

Sportsmanship, along with community and integrity, is one of the major focal points of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference.

Remijo Wani, men's basketballWani Named GNAC Rookie of the Week

11/27/23 – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly accolades have been announced and Saint Joseph’s College freshman guard Remijo Wani (Portland, Maine) has earned GNAC Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week honors.

Wani collects the first weekly award of his collegiate career after averaging 13.0 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 2.0 assists while shooting 57.7% (15-26) from the field, 40.0% (4-10) from three-point range, and 83.3% (5-6) from the FT line in three games for the Monks last week.

11/27/23 – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly honors have been released and Saint Joseph’s College sophomore forward Grace Ramsdell (Wells, Maine) has been selected as the GNAC Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Week.

Ramsdell averaged 15.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game while shooting 47.6% (10-21) from the field and 80.0% (8-10) from the free throw line in two SJC victories last week.

Will Wood, men's soccerWood Earns All-Region Accolades

11/28/23 – The United Soccer Coaches All-Region honors have been announced and Saint Joseph’s College senior defender Will Wood (Franklin, N.H.) has earned All-Region I Second Team accolades.

Wood, a 2022 Third All-Region honoree, claims Second Team accolades after netting a goal with two assists for four total points as a senior defender. In two seasons at Saint Joseph’s the 2023 team co-captain has played in 37 games with two goals and seven assists.
