1/14/24 – The Saint Joseph’s College alpine ski teams kicked off the 2024 season with a slalom race at Black Mountain on Sunday. The SJC men swept the podium to eclipse the field with the minimum six-point total and a 4:21.86 composite time while the Monks women finished second with 12 points and a 4:56.15 total time in the season opener.

Sophomore Jack Price (Franconia, N.H.), senior Liam Strobeck (Charlotte, Vt.), and junior Jacob Morris (Woodstock, N.H.) placed first, second, and third – respectively – to give the Monks a podium sweep for the second time in program history. Strobeck, Price, and Caleb Gorton (Goffstown, N.H.) comprised the first trifecta at Lost Valley last winter (1/20/23).

The SJC women’s team posted the fewest points (12) but lost out via composite time to UMaine-Farmington, which totaled 13 points and claimed the victory with a 4:53.76 – 4:56.16 total time lead.
