Women’s Basketball: Hurley Nets 30, Monks Top Spartans

11/11/23 – Senior guard Angelica Hurley (Groveland, Mass.) poured in 30 points to help Saint Joseph’s College (2-0) outlast Vermont State Castleton (1-1), 69-62, in the Castleton Classic Tournament Championship on Saturday afternoon.
St. Joe’s held a 17-11 lead after the first quarter and posted a 14-6 during the first five minutes of the second stanza to secure a 31-17 cushion. The Monks headed into intermission with a 38-23 advantage and held a game-high 18-point lead after senior guard Hailey Anderson (Beverly, Mass.) kicked off the third period with a three-pointer.
Saint Joseph’s maintained a double-digit advantage throughout the third quarter and led by 15 (52-37) early in the fourth before Castleton mounted a 13-2 surge, which was capped by an Elise Magro trifecta, to make it a four-point (54-50) game with 5:22 remaining.
