Remembering my friend Sister Thea Bowman

In this Sisters of Mercy story, Sister Cora Marie Billings tells us about Sister Thea, FSPA, who may soon be known as “Saint Thea.” She says that her brave and loving resistance to racism in the church and society is well known. Sister Thea also inspired African American religious women like Sister Cora to keep struggling for justice and proclaiming their joy in being beautiful Black Children of God. She did this for Sister Cora by being her friend and confidant. Sister Thea was so special to Sister Cora that she says it is humbling and an honor to share her memories of her during Black History Month.
