“From mRNA vaccines, to cultured meat products and permaculture farming techniques, there is an increasing connectivity with the world around us through STEM disciplines. We owe the next generations to help them connect with the universe around them in meaningful and fulfilling ways.”

Matt Davis ’23, Biology and Secondary Education, joined us from Southern Maine Community College through the STEM Education program.

He is looking forward to connecting with other Noyce Scholars at SJC to continue to grow his skillset in the sciences and in teaching, and sharing perspectives on education. As a part of his teaching career, he is hoping to be able to connect Maine students to research opportunities, something that has benefitted him enormously at SMCC. “If I can support rural kids here in Maine to find some of that wonder and engagement, then I’ve done something to help them prepare for a future where STEM is even more important than today.”

We agree. Welcome to SJC!
