Troy Hendricks, cross countryThe Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly accolades have been announced and Saint Joseph’s College senior Troy Hendricks (Hiram, Maine) has been selected as the GNAC Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week.

Hendricks was the top GNAC finisher in the Charger Invitational 5K at Colby-Sawyer on Saturday. Hendricks led the Monks with a time of 17:05 to take sixth overall.

For Hendricks, the GNAC weekly honor is the fourth of his collegiate career. The 2019 First Team All-GNAC runner was selected as the GNAC Rookie of the Week twice during his freshman season and claimed Runner of the Week acclaim on September 16th, 2019.

Two Golfers Earn GNAC Weekly Accolades

The first Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly golf accolades have been announced and a pair of Saint Joseph’s College players have been honored. Junior Trevor Flanagan (Monmouth, Maine) and freshman Cade Buckley (Peabody, Mass.) have been named as the GNAC Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively.

For the Monks, the sweep of GNAC weekly golf awards is just the third in 15 years as a member of the conference and first since Michael Caron ’17 and Cam Letourneau ’19 claimed Player and Rookie of the Week honors, respectively, on September 7th, 2015. Caron and Matt Galvin ’18 was the first SJC duo to achieve the feat on September 22nd, 2014.

Flanagan led the Monks to a pair of team victories in the opening weeks of the season. The junior finished tied atop the field with a 74 card in the 18th Annual John Queenan Memorial Tournament, hosted by Saint Joseph’s on Wednesday. He opened the season with a 75 card, good for fifth overall, in the USM-SJC Duel at the Gorham Country Club on September 1st.

Buckley opened his collegiate career by shooting a one-over par 72 and earning Co-Medalist honors in the USM-SJC Duel and placed fifth with a 76 score in the Queenan Memorial Tournament a week later. His play was pivotal in the Monks’ 2-0 start to the 2021 season.

Huberdeau Named Runner of the Week

The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly accolades have been released and Saint Joseph’s College senior Jacob Huberdeau (Atkinson, N.H.) has been selected as the GNAC Runner of the Week.

Huberdeau was the top finisher for the Monks and placed second overall with a 28:27 time in the 8K Ron Ouellete Invitational, hosted by the University of New England on Saturday. His performance was 73 seconds off the leading pace recorded by UNE senior Anthony Chase, who claimed the individual crown with a 27:14 effort.

The Monks have had an individual earn the top weekly GNAC honor in each of the first two weeks of the season, as Huberdeau’s classmate – Troy Hendricks (Hiram, Maine) – claimed the same honor last week. For Huberdeau, the conference weekly honor is a career-first.

Collins Named GNAC Goalkeeper of the Week

The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly honors have been announced and Saint Joseph’s College freshman Kassidy Collins (Gardiner, Maine) has been selected as the GNAC Field Hockey Goalkeeper of the Week.

In two wins for the Monks last week, Collins posted a 1.00 goals against average and a .714 save percentage. The freshman netminder made four saves in a shutout victory over Anna Maria College on Saturday.

In four games – all starts – this fall, Collins owns a 4-0 record with a 1.25 goals against average and a .706 save percentage. The shutout performance versus Anna Maria was the first clean sheet of her collegiate career.

With the honor for Collins, the Monks have now had a GNAC Goalkeeper of the Week recipient in seven-consecutive seasons. During this span, Megan Baker ’19 garnered the honor seven times while Emma Astbury ’17 and Ally Simpson ’21 were both named conference keeper of the week once.
