Sustainability Self Assessments & Planning Updates

Share

In 2015, the College adopted a Climate Action and Sustainability Plan establishing benchmarks, developing goals, and monitoring progress toward carbon neutrality on campus. This year, the plan will address climate action, sustainability and community resilience. Much of the plan’s content will be drawn from the STARS self-assessment, just as it was in 2015.

The College earned a STARS Silver rating in 2017 from the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) in recognition of its campus-wide sustainability achievements. This program is the most widely recognized in the world for reporting comprehensive information related to a college’s sustainability performance. We are beginning the (RE)ASSESSMENT PROCESS and are shooting for the next level award in July.

In 2018, Princeton Review recognized the College for its environmental responsibility and features Saint Joseph’s College in the 2018 edition of its book, The Princeton Review’s Guide to 399 Green Colleges.

To conduct the AASHE / STARS self assessment, we will be reaching out to request help from previous and current process owners for the information needed to determine what progress, if any, has been made in specific areas of the sustainability standard. Note that the last report was completed in 2017 for version 2.1 and that some substantive changes are reflected in version 2.2

The CSC is excited because we know we’ve made a lot of progress towards a continual greening of SJC and we can’t wait to report on it.
