Testing Wastewater For COVID-19 With Yolanda Brooks

Share

Midway through this unprecedented academic year, and during the season of warmth and reflection, we’re honoring those that are tirelessly keeping SJC prepared with purpose. Dr. Yolanda Brooks and Bailey Gryskwicz ‘20 are the biologists responsible for turning our campus wastewater into an early COVID warning system, alerting the College to the presence of the virus before symptoms appear. Their impact extends beyond campus, too—they’re doing the same for Maine’s biggest city, Portland, and a handful of other municipalities. Together, they represent the unique roles a college like #SaintJoesMaine can play in public health—as a learning lab, an innovator, and a protector of communities.

Yolanda and Bailey, thank you.
