Update on Pearson’s and Baggot Street Café

Share

The staffing issues that are impacting businesses, economies, and communities across our state and our nation have not spared Saint Joe’s. Like many restaurants in our area and beyond, employee shortages have disrupted the work of our talented dining staff as they strive to serve our hungry students, faculty, and staff.

Dining services has been getting feedback from the community about some of the impacts  on quantity, choice, and service. We have heard your concerns, and we’re addressing them as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience during this challenging time!

Until we can staff up back to normal levels, we are implementing the following changes in Pearson’s and Baggot. These modifications aim to balance current staffing realities with the needs of our community. Some of them might even stick around once our operations are back at full capacity.

Pearson’s

  • Moving forward, we will be ensuring that there are plentiful food choices available until 7 pm every day.
  • We’re now offering a make-your-own-sandwich bar, which is a request we’ve received from many of you.
  • The SJC Community can find their morning coffee in Pearson’s or Alfond Hall.

Baggot Street

  • The hours of operation will be Monday – Thursday, 11am – 8pm.
  • Hefty Grab and Go items will be available from 11am – 5pm, and will include heat-and-eat meals and Deli subs.
  • Additionally, hot meals will be served from 5pm – 8pm, Monday – Thursday. These will be Chef’s choice, and not special order.
  • Baggot Street seating and common areas will be open for hanging out (visiting) with friends and/or studying Friday, Saturday, and Sunday without food service.
  • Sundays from 1pm-4pm, join us for a football watch party in Baggot, sponsored by Res Life. We will provide pop-up meals from local restaurants for students at these events, free of charge on 9/19, 9/26, 10/3, 10/17 & 10/24. Look for more details in the coming days. And if you’re not a football fan, no worries! You can take some food to go.
  • Res Life will be creating additional weekend events in Baggot whenever possible

General

We are currently looking into the possibility of bringing food trucks to campus on select days this semester. More to come…..

Thank you all again for your patience, your compassion, and your resilience as we manage the effects of a problem that is affecting so many. We hope these changes make an immediate and lasting difference in your enjoyment of what our dining team works so hard to bring to SJC. Be assured that we will continue to make the dining experience the best it can be.
