March is Colorectal Cancer month

Share

Did you know March is Colorectal Cancer month and is the second most common cancer in the U.S.?  The Health and Wellness Center is offering FREE hemoccult test.  The hemoccult test is an at home test that is used to detect the presence of occult blood in your stool. Occult blood is blood in your stool that you cannot see in the toilet or on the toilet paper after you have a bowel movement. This at home test is mainly used as a diagnostic tool for colorectal cancer.

Some tips to reduce your risk of colon cancer include regular exercise, quit smoking, limiting your alcohol intake, and having regular screenings especially after the age of 50.

You may pick up a test kit at the Health and Wellness Center throughout the month of March.
