Annual Constitution Day Symposium

We invite the Saint Joseph’s community to participate in our annual Constitution Day symposium on Tuesday, November 7,  from 3:15 to 4:15 PM in the Viola George Auditorium in Alfond Hall.

For the 2023 Constitution Day Symposium, a student-led panel will present on the theme of growing corporate power and its impact on U.S. democracy. The panel will also discuss and debate several referendum questions on the Maine ballot that relate to these themes. The panel is as follows:

  • Elijah Ward (HPS/HY Secondary Ed Major): “Lobbyists and Lobbying”
  • Christian St Hilaire (HPS/PS Major): “Corporate Power and the Right to Repair”
  • Jacob Gilmore (HPS/PS Major): “Should Maine Adopt Pine Tree Power?”
  • Andrew Carroll (HPS/PS Major) “Unions and the American Dream”

Following the forum, shuttle vans will be available for those who want to vote in Standish. (Not registered to vote? Bring your state license and school ID to do it day of. Reserve a spot on the shuttle van by filling out this form!)

We also invite members of the Saint Joseph’s community to explore the web-based resources listed below and learn more about the United States Constitution.
