Griffin FoleyFoley Becomes 44th Member of Monks’ 1,000-Point Club

1/4/23 — Saint Joseph’s College men’s basketball graduate guard Griffin Foley (Portland, Maine joined the Monks’ 1,000-Point Club when he netted 15 points in a 75-52 victory over the University of Southern Maine at the Harold Alfond Center on Friday, December 30th.

Foley, the 44th member of the SJC men’s basketball 1,000-Point Club, entered the non-conference contest four points shy of the milestone and surpassed the mark with a layup at the 11:31 mark of the first half. Junior guard Camryn Yorke (Auburn, Maine) was credited with the assist on Foley’s field goal.

1/9/23 — The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly accolades have been released and a pair of Saint Joseph’s College women’s indoor track & field athletes have claimed accolades.

Junior Aaliyah WilsonFalcone (Winthrop, Maine) has been selected as the GNAC Women’s Indoor Track Athlete and Rookie of the Week and junior Brooklyn Goff (Biddeford, Maine) has earned GNAC Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week honors.

1/11/23 — The Maine Men’s Basketball Coaches & Writers Association (MMBCWA) weekly awards have been announced and Saint Joseph’s College freshman guard John Paul Frazier (York, Maine)

Frazier averaged 15.0 points and 6.5 rebounds while shooting 52.6% (10-19) from the floor and 52.9% (9-17) from three-point range in a pair of GNAC victories last week. The freshman guard netted 18 points with seven boards in a 91-81 triumph over Anna Maria on Tuesday and added 12 points with six rebounds in an 80-64 win over Rivier on Saturday.

Junior Aaliyah WilsonFalcone (Winthrop, Maine) has been selected as the GNAC Women’s Field and Rookie of the Week, Abdirizak Abukar (Lewiston, Maine) has earned GNAC Men’s Indoor Track & Field Rookie of the Week honors, and junior Wesley Hundley (Kennebunk, Maine) has been chosen as the GNAC Men’s Field Athlete of the Week.

1/18/23 — The Maine Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (MWBCA) weekly accolades have been released and Saint Joseph’s College freshman guard Elisabeth Stapelfeld (Brookline, N.H.) has been selected as the MWBCA Co-Rookie of the Week.

Stapelfeld averaged 13.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.5 assists while shooting 47.6% (10-21) from the floor and 83.3% (5-6) from the FT line in a pair of GNAC road wins last week. The freshman guard netted 12 points with six boards and two assists in a 71-53 win at Norwich on Wednesday and added 14 points and four caroms in a close 65-60 victory at University of Saint Joseph on Saturday.

1/23/23 — Weekly accolades have been announced and Saint Joseph’s College women’s basketball junior guard Angelica Hurley (Groveland, Mass.) has earned a pair of honors.

Hurley has been named as the GNAC Player of the Week for the second time this season and has also garnered New England Women’s Basketball Association (NEWBA) Weekly Second Team honors.
