When is the best time for me to study abroad?

Students study abroad during various times in their college careers, depending on where they are in their program of study. The majority of students choose to study abroad during their third year, but students may also study abroad in their second or fourth year.

What are the deadlines to apply for study abroad?

Study abroad deadlines differ by program, but generally the deadline for fall placement is March 1 and the deadline for spring placement is October 1.

How much does it cost?

Study abroad is more affordable than you might think! In many cases, it will be similar to the cost of attending Saint Joseph’s College. Additional expenses include flights, insurance, books, and spending money for travel and activities. Each organization offers scholarships.

Do I have to speak another language?

While knowledge of a second language is helpful, there are many possibilities for students who prefer to study in, or speak only, English. Such programs are even available in countries where English is not the first language.

Will I graduate on time?

Most students who study abroad graduate on time. Students work with their academic advisors and plan which courses to take to ensure that credits will transfer back to Saint Joseph’s College.

Do I need a minimum GPA?

GPA minimum requirements vary by Study Away program, from 2.5 to 3.3. Consult with the Study Away Coordinator or check the program websites for specifics.
