Need to change your SJC password?

All SJC accounts are automatically enrolled in our Password Self-Service Center. This means that you can change your password anytime you need.

Forgotten Password:

If you have forgotten your password, use the “Reset via Email” option. This will send a password reset link to the email address we have on file for your account. For security and authentication, you must use an address that is already registered to your account. This could be an @sjcme.edu address that you have access to or a personal address. If you need assistance adding a new address or validating your current options, please contact the IT team at iteam@sjcme.edu.

Known Password:

If you know your current password (including a temporary password for a new account), use the “Change Password” option. This will allow you to set a new password after entering your current one.

Password Requirements:

The college requires that you create a complex password with the following rules:

  • Not contain the user’s account name or parts of the user’s full name that exceed two consecutive characters
  • Be at least twelve (12) characters in length
  • Contain at least one of each of the following:
    • English uppercase characters (A through Z)
    • English lowercase characters (a through z)
    • Base 10 digits (0 through 9)
    • Non-alphabetic characters (for example, !, $, #, %)

Tips for making a good password:

  • Do not use personal information (birthdate, phone number, postal code, etc.)
  • Start with a base phrase – choose a memorable catchphrase, quote, or saying and take the first letter from each word.
  • Add in or swap a letter for a number/symbol, make at least one letter uppercase, and add in a symbol, like a # sign.
  • Lengthen the phrase – to at least 12 characters
