March was Social Work Month and Saint Joe’s students joined 150 social work students and professionals at the state capital to receive first hand experience in advocating at the legislative level. Saint Joseph’s was recognized during a reading of a proclamation recognizing March as Social Work Month in Maine, written by Representative Lori Gramelich, a member of our Social Work Program’s Community Advisory Committee. Governor Janet Mills joined the event for a special luncheon, speaking to the many issues facing newly minted social work professionals and giving gratitude for all of the hard work and dedication students undertake to be advocates for change.
