How You Can Help in Haiti and Afghanistan

Share

The last week has brought us news about the impact of the earthquake in Haiti and the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan.  If you would like to contribute to humanitarian efforts in those areas, here’s how you can do so.

Catholic Relief Services carries out the commitment of the Bishops of the United States to assist the poor and vulnerable overseas. It promotes human development by responding to major emergencies, fighting disease and poverty, and nurturing peaceful and just societies based on need and not on creed. You can contribute to its relief efforts in Haiti here.

The International Rescue Committee responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people whose lives and livelihoods are shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover, and gain control of their future. It works in over 40 countries and more than 20 U.S. cities.  It provides clean water, shelter, health care, education, and empowerment support to refugees and displaced people. You can help its work with Afghan refugees here.
